Once we check that, we’ll come up with conceptual layouts that make us all happy. Then we’ll put together drawings with just enough information to get some real numbers from trusted contractors. Why? Because we don’t want you to spend all your money drafting up a full construction set before you know you can afford it. We want you to be comfortable with the budget every step of the way. When compromise is necessary, we’ll work together to keep the project’s integrity intact. We’ll connect you with experienced lenders on financing and we won’t move forward until you and your family are 100% on board with a realistic budget.
Building Permits and Construction
Now that you’re comfortable with the concept and the costs, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty. This is when all the nerdy building science comes into play and your architect will dive into waterproofing details, structural components and energy calculations. This part of the process is about giving the contractor very specific instructions on how to build your home and when drawings are submitted to the city/county building department. We will interface with planning and building officials to make the process of obtaining permits as smooth and stress-free as possible for you. Then once construction begins, we’ll be there to assist you and the contractor until the job is done.
